Mannerism

From the 20s of the 16th century, a special painting style appeared among the young Italian artists, and that was named as Mannerism painting. This art expended to other Europe countries until the end of the 16th century. Oil painting in this art movement showed strong subjective conscious and strained feeling.
The art conscious run counter to some basic principles of the Renaissance and was different from the Baroque art in the follow stages. Mannerism paintings laid importance on depicting human body; the nude painting was the main art subject. The figures in the oil painting normally showed monstrous postures. The paintings were finished with obscure subjects that hardly understanding. The artists designed the painting composition by their imagination, color tones were also unique. The representative artists included: Pontormo Rosso Fiorentino, Parmigianino Bronzino.
